Vinegar For Your Health – 5 ways to use Vinegar to Improve your Health

Arthritis

Use the cider vinegar and honey treatment for arthritis and also apply cider vinegar externally to painful joints. This entails drinking a glass of water with two teaspoons of cider vinegar and two teaspoons of honey three times a day.vinegar3 150x150 Vinegar For Your Health – 5 ways to use Vinegar to Improve your Health

Local treatment can also be given by soaking the arthritic hand, or foot in a strong, comfortably hot solution of cider vinegar for ten minutes, two or three times a day – (a quarter of a cup of cider vinegar to one and a half cups of water). Arthritic knees can be attended to by making a poultice – soak the cloth in a mixture of cider vinegar and water, (as per above mixture) wring out and wrap it around the joint, then secure with a dry cloth to retain heat. When the wet cloth cools, it should be wrung out in the hot solution and applied afresh. Repeat several times, twice daily.

Bones

The manganese, magnesium, silicon (and calcium) found in apple cider vinegar has been linked in sustaining bone mass, which is important in the fight against osteoporosis. A supplement of apple cider vinegar could for this reason be valuable to consider should you suffer from a calcium shortage, have a problem with osteoporosis, or if you are entering your postmenopausal stage, where a risk of bone loss could cause a problem.

Cholesterol

A good warning system for heart disease is the presence of high blood cholesterol in the system. To help prevent this is to follow a lifestyle which includes eating a diet high in fruits and vegetables, maintaining your ideal weight, getting enough exercise while avoiding processed foods, junk foods and hydrogenated oils.

Another way is to add fiber to your diet, especially water-soluble fiber – such as the pectin found in apple cider vinegar. Water-soluble fiber soaks up water, which adds bulk, and interacts with your body, and also keeps on working longer than non water-soluble fiber.

Fiber also soaks up fats and cholesterol in the body and then is excreted instead of being reabsorbed.

Non water-soluble fiber soaks up moisture in the body, but cannot interact with the body. The amino acids contained in apple cider vinegar have also shown promise in neutralizing some of the harmful oxidized LDL cholesterol.

Cramps

If you have never woken up in the middle of the night with cramps tearing through your calves, feet or legs, you would not understand the agony. A useful remedy to assist with this is to take apple cider vinegar.

Headaches

There are several types of headache, caused by various reasons. Some are associated with organic disorders, such as kidney troubles, others are known as psychogenic, or tension headaches. Then we have the most annoying of all; the migraine headache. Many people have had relief from headaches by the use of honey.

Two teaspoons taken at each meal may well prevent an attack. Another effective means is to take apple cider vinegar. Equal parts of cider vinegar and water should be placed in a small basin on the stove, allowing it to boil slowly. When the fumes begin to rise from the basin lean your head over it until the fumes are comfortably strong. Inhale for approximately 50 to 80 breaths. Generally this alleviates the headache considerably, if not entirely.

5 More Tips for Preventing Headaches

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

Tip 1

Do not hold the book too close to your eyes.

This is some thing that happens when you lei down to read. The book tends to move closer to your eyes than intended.
This is something that is bad for your eyes. Your eye muscles have to strain a lot in order to focus on nearer objects. The
book should ideally be at the level of your chest.

Tip 2

Do not hold it too far away either.

Holding the book too far away is just as bad as holding the book too close. Remember to keep it at chest level. Many
bookstores have reading stands that will enable you to keep your book position at the right level.

Tip 3

Be careful of the print size of the book you are reading.

If the print of the book is too faint, or if the font size is too small, just toss away the book. Most libraries have large-print
versions of books. If this is not available, use a magnifying glass or wear magnifying glasses.

Tip 4

Eat plenty of carrots; they are good for your eyes.

Carrots are the best things that nature has to offer for eye sight so go ahead and gorge on them. Carrots are rich in
vitamin A, which is the vitamin required for proper eye sight.

Tip 5

If you feel that your eyes are under strain, take a break.

The best relaxation for your eyes is staring at a distant object or just keeping them closed. Your eyes will give you signs
when they are under strain. You will find that you are getting tired sooner, your eyes may start to water or you might notice
that you have to squint your eyes in order to get a better view.

Tip for Preventing Headaches

Friday, May 8th, 2009

Tip 1

Do not read in moving vehicles.

Many people try to read while traveling by car to kill time. However, curves and bumps in the road can cause headaches and even motion sickness.

No matter how smooth the road is and no matter how good the shock absorbers of the car are, there is bound to be jerking motions. This will force your eyes to adjust and readjust to the print and this continuous adjustment and readjustment is very bad for your eyes. At the end of the journey you are bound to end up with a headache.

Tip 2

The light from your T.V or P.C monitor is not enough to read.

Some people tend to read in the light that comes from a turned on television set or a computer. This light is not enough for your eyes to pick out what is printed, and should be combined with lamplight or overhead light.

Tip 3

Use an anti-glare screen to cut out the radiation while working on your computer.

Radiation is bad for your eyes and an anti-glare screen is the only and the best solution to this. Another option is to wear glasses that have an anti-glare coating on the lenses.

Exercise Tips for the Traveller

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

The Youthful Traveler

One of the best options for great exercise for young people is to go to a club or some other place where you can dance all night long.  Although the air is not exactly healthy air to be breathing, what with all the smoking going on in some of these places, dancing all night long can be really healthy if paired with only moderate alcohol consumption.  On the upside, many such clubs and bars are going smoke free in recent years, so in a short amount of time, it should be possible to dance the night away in a smoke-free venue.  If you are traveling in Europe, don’t count on this happening anytime soon.Dancing is not just for the youthful people, waltzing all night is also very good exercise.

Adventure Travelers

For those who like to hit the slopes or hit the cliffs, there are so many options for adventure travelers that there are really limitless possibilities.  Among the most popular are skiing, biking and climbing.  If you are planning a trip, don’t forget to schedule all kinds of this kind of activities not only because it’s a healthier kind of trip, but also because it is frequently the best way to see all of the beautiful places to which you are traveling.  Touring Europe is never better than done on bicycle and on foot.  Skip the tour bus and rent a bike instead.  Not only will you see more, you’ll also get closer to the locals on a bike than you will on a tour bus.  Even if you don’t consider yourself a true adventure traveler, set yourself the goal of walking everywhere instead of taking the subway.  Walking everywhere is not only good exercise but if helps you meet more locals and see a lot more than you would see sitting on a bus, not to mention burn off all of the calories of yummy local food you consume.

The Business Traveler

The key to getting exercise on a business trip is in scheduling the time to spend your lunch break walking to a place to get a meal or leaving time to stroll around the airport (and not having so much carry-on luggage that you can’t comfortably stroll around the airport). Instead of sitting in your hotel room all night, take a walk and see the sights of wherever you are.  You’ll feel less like a business traveler and sleep better because you’ve gotten a little exercise. Set your alarm earlier than needed to allow time for an early morning walk, this will help you stay focused during the day.

The Family Traveling Together

Nothing is more fun for kids than wandering around a new place, not to mention that the more energy the kids use up in physical activity, the less energy they will have to fight you at bedtime and argue with each other.  Try to avoid dangerous activities, try to keep it to adventurous fun like moderate hiking trails instead of climbing rock cliffs.  Keeping it adventurous, but always safe, like biking on tarred trails instead of down gravel mountain trails will make it so that everyone’s having fun, but Mom and Dad aren’t scared that someone’s going to break a leg. If you are near the beach, an early morning walk on the sand is a great way to start the day. A walk before bed is a good way to end the day and should help the kids go to sleep.

Regardless of the type of traveler you are, keeping it fun and seeing the local sights is what keeps a traveler motivated to exercise.

More uses for Honey

More Tips for using Magical Honey.

Hay Fever

Eating a spoonful of Local honey daily can reduce the effects of hay fever, a simple but effective way to help with the sneezes and wheezes of hay fever.

Digestion

Honey is an incredible digestive aid. Scientifically speaking , honey is an inverted sugar. That makes it easy for the human body to digest. That quick digestion prevents any fermentation of honey within the body and decreases the risk of excess bacterial formation.
Those who use honey in cooking may notice improved digestion and a reduction in stomach discomfort. Even if you do not regularly cook with honey or use it as a sugar substitute, however, you can gain a great deal of its value as a digestive aid by consuming a bit of the tasty liquid on a daily basis. A small "dose" of honey can do wonders for your digestion!

Bladder Infection

The potent combination of cinnamon and honey has been used to combat bladder infections. The antibacterial properties of honey seem well suited to destroy the germs responsible for bladder infections.
Two tablespoons of cinnamon powder and a teaspoon of honey dissolved in a glass of lukewarm water is a well-know folk remedy for bladder infection.

The Magic and Many Uses Of Honey

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Tips  from the Book “The Magic and many uses of Honey”

Tip 1 – Burns

Honey has some amazing powers when it comes to burn treatment. Although serious burns require immediate professional medical assistance, less serious burns are treatable with honey. Not only does honey do a good job of decreasing the pain associated with burns, it also assists in encouraging healing.

 Tip 2- Abrasions

Honey is a great treatment for abrasions, as well as burns. Honey is a great bet for dealing with your scratches and scrapes for a few distinct reasons. First, it reduced swelling by drawing excess moisture from the tissues when applied to the skin. Although honey is a liquid, it is a "thick and thirsty” liquid that actually soaks up moisture on contact.

Tip 3 -Cough and Sore Throats

Honey has long been a popular home remedy for those suffering from sore throats and coughs. That popularity is not merely a matter of tradition either. Honey really does help these conditions a great deal. You have undoubtedly encountered “honey and eucalyptus” cough drops in the store. They are a great way of handling cold symptoms.

The Benefits of Honey

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

Discover the secrets to better health in just a few weeks!

Learn about The Magic of honey and its many uses.

Yes Honey, most of us have some in our cupboard, did you know that honey can help with burns, abrasions, hay fever, coughs and sore throats, digestion, arthritis, bladder infection, cholesterol, overall immune health, dental hygiene, halitosis, weight loss, acne as well as a beauty treatment.

Honey has been around far longer than the little squeezable plastic containers we may have in our cupboards! It is impossible to say how long people have been gathering and consuming honey because even our earliest historical records indicate that we have enjoyed the work of bees.

Cave paintings believed to have been created in or around 7000 BC show that people were keeping bees even then. Fossil evidence shows that bees were working their magic over 150 million years ago, which means that even the earliest people may have made use of honey.

Below are just a couple of the many recipes in the book

‘Magic & Many Uses of Honey’

Tasty Honey Cake
4 eggs
¾ cup sugar
½ cup vegetable oil
1 cup melted honey
2 ½ cups flour
1 cup orange juice
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon ginger
1 tablespoon baking powder
Cream the eggs and sugar. Then, add the oil, honey and orange juice.
Sift the following 5 ingredients: flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger and baking powder: add them to the bowl with all of the liquid ingredients and mix well.
Then pour the batter into a slightly greased baking pan and bake at 350F for 60 minutes.

I made this for some visitors the other day and I was delighted that they all said they really enjoyed it. The best part for me was that it was really easy too make.

Honey Carrots
1 bunch carrots
½ teaspoon salt
¼ cup melted butter or margarine
¼ cup honey
1 ½ teaspoons grated lemon peel

Cook carrots in about one inch of boiling water until they are somewhat tender (15 minutes). Drain carrots. Blend the butter, honey and lemon peel. Pour the liquid over the carrots and place on low heat until the carrots are completely glazed.

This is a favourite of my children.
